Stockton Wins NJAC Opener 1-0

Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (6-0-3, 1-0 NJAC) edged Rutgers-Newark (4-5, 0-1 NJAC) 1-0 in the conference opener for both teams. The Ospreys recorded their sixth consecutive shutout and prevailed on a goal in the second half.

Freshman Kylee Reissek (Newfield/Delsea) netted her first career goal in the 72nd minute to break the scoreless deadlock and lift Stockton to victory, extending the team's unbeaten streak to nine games.

Reissek scored with 18:41 remaining in the match, hitting the net with the last of Stockton's eight shots on goal. Ospreys' goalkeeper Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) stopped all eight Rutgers-Newark shots on goal that she faced including three saves in the last 11 minutes to protect the lead, for her sixth shutout of the season.

Keil, who was helped by the post on one Scarlet Raiders' shot, extended her personal shutout streak to 604:30 for the year while Stockton boosted the team streak to 544:33 since allowing the lone goal that they have given up through the first nine games.

Katie McLaughlin made seven saves for Rutgers-Newark.

Stockton will host Montclair State University, which is ranked 11th in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches, on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
