Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-6, 7-2 NJAC) pulled out a gutsy 64-56 victory over New Jersey City (8-6, 6-3 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) led four Ospreys in double figures with a career-high 18 points, as Stockton had just eight players available for the contest.

Stockton controlled the pace during the first half, not allowing the high-powered Gothic Knights a chance to run. The Ospreys took a 14-9 lead in the first quarter on the strength of six points from Speer and 8-10 (80.0%) from the free throw line.

The Knights were able to get back in the contest with a full court press and that helped the visitors outscore Stockton 15-11 in the second frame to get within one at 25-24 at the break in favor of the Ospreys. Speer led the way with six more points giving her a career-high through two periods.

Stockton came out of the break on fire scoring 20 points while holding NJCU to 13 on 4-21 (19.0%) shooting. The Ospreys shot an outstanding 58.3% (7-12) that included 3-4 from behind the arc to take a 45-37 lead after three quarters.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) tallied six points while Speer added another five markers.

The final period was played tightly with both squads battling for every point and each scoring 19 points, as Stockton was able to hold on for the eight point win. With the victory the Ospreys retain a share of first place in the NJAC.

In addition to Speer,
Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) and
Madison Dulude (Sewell/Washington Twp.). scored 11 points each, with Fathi adding 10 markers. Speer and
Trina Deveney-Bethea (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) both pulled down seven rebounds. Deveney-Bethea also had three assists and three blocked shots.

New Jersey City was led by Na`Tori Postell and Dayjah Anderson with 14 points each. Anderson pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Stockton will face Rowan University on Wednesday night at home for their next game. The contest will be played at 5:30 pm.
