Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (13-7, 9-4 NJAC) led wire-to-wire in taking a 93-65 victory over William Paterson (6-14, 1-12 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) topped all players with 27 points on perfect 12-12 shooting.

Stockton started quickly jumping out to a 19-5 lead, on the strength of 10 markers by Gaither and forcing the Pioneers into a timeout. The Ospreys never slowed down taking a 43-28 margin into the locker room at halftime.

Gaither totaled 17 points with EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East) and DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) tallying 11 points each as Stockton shot an outstanding 53.6 % (15-28) from the field in the first 20 minutes.

The Pioneers came back quickly after the break on a 17-7 run, closing the margin to 55-50 with 15:38 left in the half, allowing Stockton to call time. The Ospreys answered back on four points by Gaither and three more by Campbell to push the margin back to double digits at 62-52.

The margin ballooned to 73-57 with 8:38 left in regulation as the home squad methodically pulled away for the 93-65 win and snapping a two-game losing skid. The Ospreys shot an outstanding 52.5% (31-59), had 20 assists on 31 made baskets in the contest and scored 90 points or more for the seventh time this season.

It was the sixth time this season Gaither has scored 20 points or more in a game. Campbell added 24 points, including 13 in the second half, and dished a game-high six assists. Matthews-Spratley chipped in with 18 markers.

Jamar Johnson (Penns Grove/Penns Grove) set a career-high with five assists, while teammate Christian Armstrong-Thomas (Marlton/Cherokee) posted a career best 11 rebounds to lead all players in the game.
