Allentown, Pa. – Stockton University (13-4) came away with one win and one defeat in a tri-match at Muhlenberg College. The Ospreys split the first two sets with one of the top-ranked teams in the nation but fell 3-1 to #3 Johns Hopkins (18-2). Stockton rebounded with a sweep of the Mules (7-10).
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) tied her season high with 11 kills to lead the Ospreys against Johns Hopkins.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) also reached double figures with 10 kills.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) tallied a team-high 11 digs plus two aces and six assists.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) and
Kristen Burton (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) handed out 17 and 14 assists respectively and added six digs apiece.
The Ospreys stayed close in the first set but fell 25-19. Stockton then finished the second set with a 4-1 run to even the match 26-24. Johns Hopkins controlled the third set 25-13 and led 24-20 in the fourth frame. Stockton fended off three match points and got within 24-23 before falling 25-23.
The Ospreys cruised past Muhlenberg 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 behind nine kills apiece from Wilson and Louer. Mendick dished 22 assists and Burton contributed 15 assists in the sweep.
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) chipped in with seven blocks and six kills. During the match, Rolle became the 11th player in Stockton history to reach 300 career blocks.
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) matched Rolle with seven blocks.
Stockton will play an NJAC match at William Paterson on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
