Galloway, N.J. – Two Stockton University student-athletes were selected for NJAC honors for the week of September 30-October 6. Senior
Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer while junior goalkeeper
Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) was selected NJAC Defensive Player of the Week in field hockey for the second consecutive week.
Roura continued her outstanding play in net by posting two more shutouts in Stockton's two games last week, to run her streak to four straight whitewashes. She made two saves in a 3-0 win over Immaculata followed by four stops in a 4-0 triumph over FDU-Florham to helping Stockton run their winning streak to five straight games.
Roura extended her personal and team shutout streaks to 257:25 since she and the Ospreys last allowed a goal. She is tied for the NJAC lead in shutouts (4) and stands second in save percentage (.777) plus third in goals against average (2.00).
Carbone scored two goals and dealt two assists for a career-high six points in Stockton's 6-0 rout of New Jersey City on Saturday. The senior gave the Ospreys an early lead with the first goal of the game and added another in the second half after assisting on Stockton's third and fourth markers. The NJAC weekly nod was the second for Carbone in his career.
Stockton Field Hockey (6-5) will try to extend their five-game winning streak, with two games this week. The Ospreys will play a non-conference affair at home against Eastern University on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. and then will open NJAC play at Montclair State University on Saturday at noon.
Stockton Men's Soccer (3-4-4, 1-1-1 NJAC) also will play twice this week, starting with a road tilt at Widener University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. before returning home on Saturday to face NJAC foe Rutgers-Camden for a 1:00 p.m. match.
