Stockton Downed in NJAC Tournament

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-6-3) saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion as the Ospreys were downed by New Jersey City (6-4-8) in penalty kicks 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. Bella Bednarz (Keyport/Keyport) fired off four of the 18 shots the Ospreys had in the game.
 
Stockton had seven shots with five on net, including a penalty kick, in the first half but could not solve Gothic Knights net minder Sophia Mannino. The Ospreys kept up the pressure with five more on net in the second half but again, could not fine the back of the net.
 
The home team's best opportunity came at 8:20 when freshman Billie Ormsby (Maple Shade/Maple Shade) fired a volley that hit the crossbar. He rebound attempt was kicked away by Mannino.
 
After two scoreless overtime periods, NJCU was able to win the match, outscoring the Ospreys 4-2 in penalty kicks to advance in the NJAC Tournament.
 
Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Hills) made six saves in net for Stockton.
 
Mannino was stellar for the Gothic Knights fashioning a 13-save effort nay from point blank range.

Stockton ends the season with 10 wins, the 30th time in 36 seasons the Ospreys have reached double-digit victories.
