Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-4-1, 1-2 NJAC) made a late run but not overcome William Paterson University (4-3, 2-1 NJAC) by a 53-48 score on Saturday afternoon.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) led the Ospreys with a team-high 15 points.

Stockton started strong, jumping out to a 15-8 lead after one quarter, as
Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) led the way with five markers. The home team struggled to find the mark in period number two, shooting just 2-12 (16.7%) as the Pioneers grabbed a 27-20 halftime margin. The visitors shot 9-16 (56.2 %) in outscoring the Ospreys 19-5 in the frame.

The Pioneers stretched the lead to 38-29 after three quarters, setting up a furious final period for Stockton. A 14-5 run to start the fourth period, drew Stockton into a tie at 43-43 with 4:10 left in regulation. Six points by
Jameelyonna Horace (Penns Grove/Penns Grove) and four by
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) spurred the comeback.

That was as close as the home squad would come as the Pioneers tallied 10 of the final 15 points to secure the 53-48 victory.

Fathi dished a game-high five assists, while Fowlkes scored seven points, with five rebounds and tied for team high with three steals.
Lauren Winant (Middletown/Middletown South) added six points with seven boards and three steals, while freshman
Aiyonna Alexander (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) tied Winant with a career-high seven rebounds.

William Paterson was led by Mattison Chiera who topped all players with 16 points and five steals. Patty Walsh and Brianna Smith chipped in with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Walsh also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Stockton will play their second straight home game when the Ospreys will host New Jersey City on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
