Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (15-7, 12-3 NJAC) used a balanced scoring and a stifling defense to down Montclair State (8-14, 5-10 NJAC) 58-39 on Saturday afternoon. Eight of the 13 players available hit the scoring column for the Ospreys led by
Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) with 10 points.

The Red Hawks played a solid first period, keeping Stockton bottled up in a 13-12 first frame for the visitors. The Ospreys answered with a 20 point second frame, on the strength of a finishing 10-0 run in the final 3:12 of the quarter.

With the game knotted at 22 all, Stockton surged to the half time lead at 32-22. Four points by
Trina Deveney-Bethea (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) and a three ball by
Katie Rausch (Monmouth Junction/South Brunswick) led the way. Stockton's defense caused 13 turnovers that led to 13 points in the first half.

Stockton extended the margin in the third period, keeping Montclair State scoreless for the first 4:07 while scoring six points to make it 38-22. The home team finished the stanza up by 14 at 45-31, with Morrone accounting for four markers and Rausch with another three point basket.

The final quarter became academic as Stockton pulled away for the victory to maintain their hold on first place in the NJAC standings.

Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) and Rausch contributed nine points each, with Deveney-Bethea and
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) adding eight points each.

Madison Dulude (Sewell/Washington Twp.) filed the stat sheet on the day grabbing 11 rebounds, tying her season high and topping all players, while dishing three assists, with four steals and five points. The Osprey defense was outstanding, holding the Red Hawks to just 25.9% (14-54) shooting and forcing 25 turnovers that led to 29 points in the contest.

Isabella Orlando led Montclair State with eight points, while Olivia Vero pulled down nine rebounds.

Stockton's next contest will be a road game against The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ on Wednesday. Game time is schedule for 5 pm.
