Stockton Sweeps Arcadia 9-1 and 14-6

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (4-6) scored 23 runs on 24 hits in a pair of run-rule victories over Arcadia University (5-9). The Ospreys took the opener 9-1 in six innings and rallied from a 6-1 deficit to complete the sweep 14-6 in five innings.
 
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) pitched a complete game and hit a three-run homer in the first game. Tramp allowed just one run on five hits with six strikeouts for her third win of the season.
 
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) went 2-4 with a double, two RBI and a run while Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) was 2-4 with two runs and an RBI.
 
Stockton went hitless for the first 2.2 innings before a two-run double by Jeffers gave them a 2-1 edge. Sears stroked an RBI single during a two-run fourth frame that made it 4-1. Tramp blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to increase the advantage to 7-1.
 
In the bottom of the sixth, singles by Sears and Jeffers set the stage for a walk-off two-run double by Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) that invoked the run rule at 9-1.
 
Stockton registered 15 hits in the nightcap, with six Ospreys tallying two safeties apiece. Megan Dignam (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) went 2-4 with three RBI and a run. Sears and Jeffers added two hits apiece, with Jeffers scoring three times and Sears scoring twice.
 
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) and Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) each contributed two hits and two RBI. Cetrulo got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second inning, but Arcadia responded with six runs in the top of the third for a 6-1 count.
 
Stockton's rally began with four runs in the bottom half to close the gap to 6-5. The Ospreys unleashed a nine-run, eight-hit onslaught in the fourth frame. The inning was highlighted by a two-run double from Spencer, two-run single by Dignam and a pinch-hit RBI single by Ava Kinkler (Northfield/Mainland) that was her first career hit.
 
Arcadia went down in order in the top of the fifth, ending the game on the run rule at 14-6. Transfer Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) earned her first win at Stockton, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief. Barone retired the final seven consecutive batters that she faced.
 
Madi Costigan paced Arcadia with five hits, two runs and an RBI in the doubleheader. Megan Klose went 2-3 with the lone RBI for the Knights in the opener. Summer Centeno stroked a two-run single in the nightcap.
 
Stockton will be home again on Thursday for a twinbill versus Neumann University, with the first game starting at 2:30 p.m.
