Stockton Controls Maritime 13-4

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (3-0) pulled away with a nine-goal onslaught during the second and third quarters that paved the way for a 13-4 victory over Maritime College (2-2). The win was the third in a row for the Ospreys as they continued their four-game homestand to open the season.
 
Colin Hopkins (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco) led the balanced Stockton offense with a game-high three goals plus one assist for four points while Alex DeLierre (Basking Ridge/Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied two goals and two assists for four points.
 
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) scored two goals and Tyler Horvath (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) again was dominant on faceoffs, winning 14 of 19 and snagging eight ground balls.
 
Stockton held a slim 3-2 lead before breaking the game open with nine consecutive goals while holding Maritime scoreless for over 28 minutes. Hopkins and Capozzoli led the attack with three and two goals respectively.
 
By the time Brendan McHale (Montville/Montville) capped the run, the Ospreys had a commanding 12-2 advantage in the final minute of the third quarter. Overall, nine different Stockton players scored in the game and the Ospreys remained unbeaten with the 13-4 triumph.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Colin Bernstein (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) made seven saves to collect the victory. Shane Phillips (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco) spurred the defense with five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
 
Parker Reilly and Charles Gerace netted two goals apiece for Maritime. Privateers' goalie Jack Deresta played the first three quarters and made 13 saves.
 
Stockton will play its fourth straight home game on Wednesday when the Ospreys host Elizabethtown at 7:00 p.m.
