Galloway, N.J. – Three Stockton University student-athletes were selected for NJAC honors for the week of March 18-24. In softball, junior Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) and freshman Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) were chosen NJAC Player of the Week and NJAC Rookie of the Week respectively.

Sophomore Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) was named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week in women's track & field. Jeffers was tabbed for the rookie award for the second time this season while Sears and Petrolia received their awards for the first time in their careers.

Sears batted .571 (8-14), led the team with eight RBI and tied Jeffers for the team lead with seven runs in four victories last week. The centerfielder rapped two home runs and two doubles, with one homer coming in each game of a sweep over Neumann on March 21.

Sears stroked two hits apiece in each of the four games last week. For the season, she is batting .462, seventh in the NJAC, with a superb 1.143 OPS that ranks fifth in the league plus a .667 slugging percentage that is eighth in the conference.

Jeffers continued her outstanding rookie season, leading the team in batting at .750 (9-12) as Stockton posted a 4-0 week. The shortstop tied Sears for the team lead with seven runs and produced three RBI and a team-high .786 on-base percentage for the week.

Jeffers recorded multiple hits in each game last week, highlighted by three safeties in the opener against Neumann on March 21. Through her first 12 college games, she leads the NJAC with a robust .486 batting average and sits third in the league with a .525 on-base percentage.

Petrolia competed in three events at the season-opening Stockton Invitational on March 22. The sophomore won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.71 that qualified her for the AARTFC Championships later this season. Petrolia ran a leg on the 4x400 relay team that placed second and posted a mark of 5.11 meters in the long jump for a fourth-place finish.

The Osprey softball team will host Manhattanville tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. before entering NJAC play by hosting a twinbill versus Montclair State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Stockton track & field team will host the two-day Osprey Open at G.
