Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (16-10, 9-3 NJAC) earned its second straight sweep over a conference opponent as the Ospreys topped Rutgers-Camden (13-17, 4-8 NJAC) by scores of 6-2 and 6-1. Stockton hitters smacked eight extra-base hits in the doubleheader.
In game one,
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) went 2-4 and slammed a home run for the second consecutive game.
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) rapped two doubles and scored once.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) got the Ospreys started with an RBI single in the second inning and Czaczkowski blasted a solo homer in the third frame for a 2-0 lead.
RBI singles by
Megan Dignam (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) in the fifth frame made it 4-0. Stockton added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings before Alana Gannon spoiled the shutout with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-2 final.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) earned her 10th win of the season, allowing two runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) entered with two runners on base and induced the final two outs for a save.
Czaczkowski remained hot with two doubles plus a run and an RBI in the second game.
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) was 2-2 with a run and an RBI.
The game was scoreless into the third inning when
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) ripped her team-leading fifth homer of the season for a 3-0 Stockton lead. In the fifth stanza, Czaczkowski doubled home a run and then scored an unearned marker.
An RBI single by Jeffers in the sixth inning upped the lead to 6-0 and the Ospreys went on to their fourth straight triumph, 6-1.
Freshman pitcher
Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) received her first college start and made the most of the opportunity with six strong innings of work for her first career win. Liquori struck out four batters and walked none while yielding just one run on six hits.
Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) hurled a scoreless seventh inning to seal the victory for the Ospreys.
Stockton will be on the road again on Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader at Gwynedd Mercy starting at 3:00 p.m.
