Stockton Finishes Third in MARC Championships

West Windsor, N.J. – Stockton University finished third in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships, which were held at Lake Mercer on Sunday. The Ospreys rowed in all three women's events, which were the varsity four, varsity eight and second varsity eight.
 
Stockton placed third in the varsity eight final, narrowly missing out on second place by just 1.25 seconds. The Ospreys crossed the finish line at 7:08.348, trailing Bryn Mawr (7:07.098) and victor St. Mary's (Md.) (7:04.410). Lorie Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy) occupied her usual spot as coxswain for the varsity eight.
 
Emily Latshaw (Toms River/TR South), Amber Hartzell (Merchantville/Haddon Hts.), Joslynn Hurley (Epsom, NH/Pembroke), Madelynn Schina (Somerdale/Highland), Marissa Martinelli (Burlington/Burlington Twp.), Ashley Timm (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT), Megan Baldwin (Brigantine/Holy Spirit) and Sydney Rowand (Barrington/Haddon Hts.) rowed in the varsity eight.
 
Earlier in the day, the Osprey eight rowed in an incredibly close heat for positioning that saw five boats, including Stockton, finish less than a second apart. Stockton was fourth out of the group at 7:18.841.
 
Stockton was the runner-up out of five teams in the final of the second varsity eight with a time of 7:31.886 that trailed only winner St. Mary's (Md.) at 7:25.132. Kelley Mason (Manhattan, N.Y./St. Vincent Ferrer) filled her regular role as coxswain for the second varsity eight.
 
Breanna Blisard (Galloway/Cedar Creek), Lex Zang (San Carlos, Calif./Carlmont), Lexi Kripetz (Clinton/Voorhees), Emily Little (Wildwood/Wildwood), Reese Weirick (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), Kimberly Canelas (Galloway/ACIT), Erin O'Brien (Edgwater Park/Burlington City) and Jayne Seitz (Cape May CH/Cape May Tech) rowed in the second varsity eight.
 
Katie Kurtz (Galloway/Cedar Creek), Ellen Hartshaw (Lehighton, Pa./King's Christian), Riley Deschenes (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) and Jordan Barikian (Cape May/Lower Cape May) placed fifth in the varsity four final with a time of 8:44.574. Emma Dyrsten (Sparta/Sparta) was the coxswain.
 
Next weekend, Stockton is scheduled to compete against Villanova University in Conshohocken on May 5.
