5/21/2024 11:27:00 AM

Galloway, N.J. – Eight Stockton University track & field competitors earned All-Metro Region accolades from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024 outdoor season. To qualify, competitors needed to post a mark that ranked in the top five in the region in an individual event or top three in a relay.

Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) topped the list with all-region honors in the 400m hurdles and triple jump after setting school records in both events. Petrolia ran a top time of 1:02.07 in the 400m hurdles that was good for second in the region and 12th in NCAA Division III. She will compete in the event at the NCAA Championships this weekend.

The sophomore ranked fifth in the region in the triple jump with a distance of 11.59 meters. Petrolia upped her career total to four all-region nods in her first two years of indoor and outdoor track & field at Stockton.

Sophomore Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) ran a school-record 2:09.39 in the 800m that was first in the Metro and 11th nationally. Kass garnered her third all-region award of the year in track & field (indoor & outdoor 800m, indoor 4x400 relay) and brought her career total to seven all-region kudos (5 track & field, 2 cross country) in just two years.

The sophomore, who will compete at the NCAA Championships this weekend, also was USTFCCCA All-Region in cross country during the fall.

Michaela Pomatto (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) was first in the Metro region and 11th in the nation in the discus with a best throw of 47.15 meters that established a new school record and produced her second consecutive all-region nod. Pomatto will compete at the NCAA Championships this weekend.

Sophomore Megan Campanile (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) ranked second in the Metro in the javelin with a distance of 39.09 meters for her second straight all-region honor in the event.

Madison Fey (Easton, Pa./Freedom) and Isabella Freda (Verona/Verona) placed fifth in the Metro Region in the pole vault (3.20m) and hammer throw (47.27m) respectively. Fey qualified for her third career all-region spot in the pole vault while Freda became an all-region performer for the first time.

On the men's side, sophomore Gavin Lum (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) tied for third in the Metro Region in the pole vault at a top height of 4.45 meters for his third career all-region accolade in the event (2 outdoor, 1 indoor).

Freshman Kevin Lu-Chua (Brooklyn, NY/Stuyvesant) earned his first all-region nod in the decathlon with a point total of 5,210 that was good for fourth in the Metro region.
