10 Ospreys Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Galloway, N.J. – Ten Stockton University student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors in track & field/cross country from the College Sports Communicators for the 2023-24 academic year. All 10 Ospreys have grade point averages of 3.65 or higher and collected NJAC all-conference accolades this year.
 
Jaelyn Barkley (Hope/Belvidere), Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne), Ashanae Morrison (East Brunswick/East Brunswick), Michaela Pomatto (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and Kaitlyn Vervier (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) were Stockton's CSC Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country selections.
 
Mike Carfagno (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT), Joseph deBeaumont (Blackwood/Highland), Anthony Gentile (North Cape May/Lower Cape May), Gavin Lum (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) and Sam Tenenbaum (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) were CSC Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country honorees for Stockton.
 
Barkley, a Nursing major, qualified for the NCAA Championships in cross country for the second straight year in addition to earning USTFCCCA All-Region, NJAC Second Team and USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors in cross country. She also competed in three indoor meets and six outdoor meets during the track & field seasons.
 
Kass, a Health Science major, achieved All-America First Team recognition in the indoor 800m and All-America Second Team status in the outdoor 800m during a phenomenal year in which she qualified for the NCAA Championships in three sports (cross country indoor track & field, outdoor track & field).
 
The sophomore racked up four USTFCCCA All-Region accolades (cross country, indoor 800m & 4x400 relay, outdoor 800m) and five NJAC all-conference nods (First Team cross country, indoor 800m, outdoor 800m; Second Team indoor 4x400 relay; Honorable Mention outdoor 4x400 relay).
 
Morrison, a Social Work major, collected a trio of NJAC all-conference kudos in track & field this year. The junior won the NJAC title in the indoor long jump for an NJAC First Team nod and also was NJAC Second Team in the outdoor triple jump plus NJAC Honorable Mention in the indoor 4x200 relay.
 
Pomatto, a Biology major, qualified for All-America Second Team recognition by finishing 11th in the discus at the NCAA Championships in May. The junior won the NJAC title in the discus to snag the NJAC First Team spot, and she also was USTFCCCA All-Region in the discus.
 
Vervier, a Health Science major, was the NJAC Second Team performer in the high jump for both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons this year. The junior competed in the high jump at 13 meets, highlighted by four runner-up finishes. Vervier also competed in the triple jump four times this year.
 
Carfagno, a Health Science major, received a CSC Academic All-District award for the second consecutive year. The senior earned USTFCCCA All-Region and NJAC Honorable Mention accolades in the shot put and weight throw during the indoor track & field season. Carfagno competed in the throwing events at 17 meets this year.
 
deBeaumont, a Psychology major, competed in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field at a combined total of 21 meets during his junior year. He garnered a pair of all-conference nods with NJAC Second Team in the outdoor 4x400 relay and NJAC Honorable Mention in the indoor distance medley relay.
 
Gentile, a Communications major, recorded one win and three runner-up finishes while competing in the sprints and relays at eight outdoor meets and six indoor meets this year. The sophomore notched an NJAC Honorable Mention spot in the outdoor 4x100 relay.
 
Lum, an Accounting major, qualified for USTFCCCA All-Region status in the indoor and outdoor pole vault as well as an NJAC Second Team slot in the outdoor pole vault. The sophomore competed in the pole vault and hurdles at 16 meets, posting three event wins and three runner-up finishes.
 
Tenenbaum, a History/Education major, ran in six cross country races in the fall and competed in six outdoor track & field meets in the spring. The senior collected an NJAC Honorable Mention award in the outdoor 5000m and recorded the fastest time of the season by a Stockton runner in the 3000, 5000m and 10,000m races.
