Gettysburg, Pa. – Stockton University (10-2) played three close sets with Gettysburg (14-1), which is fifth in the Also Receiving Votes category of the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, but the Ospreys were downed 3-0. The defeat snapped Stockton's eight-match winning streak.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led the Ospreys with a match-high 11 kills plus a .333 hitting percentage and three aces.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) contributed nine kills, eight digs and four aces.
Setters
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) and
Kristen Burton (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) handed out 18 assists apiece and Mendick also served three aces.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) scooped a match-high 14 digs.
Stockton led the first set 19-17 after a kill and then ace, both by Louer, and again at 23-21, but the Bullets scored four straight points on three kills and an attack error to edge the Ospreys 25-23.
In the second set, three straight points gave Stockton a 17-13 lead, however Gettysburg surged ahead with five markers in a row. The Ospreys later fended off three set points with a kill by Palmer, ace by Mendick and Gettysburg error to make it 24-23 before falling 25-23.
Stockton fell behind 10-4 in the third set and never recovered, dropping the frame 25-18. Erin Gonzalez paced the balanced Gettysburg attack with eight kills and 10 digs in the match. Kendall Erpenbeck added 13 assists and 12 digs.
Stockton will host Montclair in an NJAC match on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
