Staten Island, N.Y. – Stockton University returned to action for the first time in more than a month by competing in the Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field complex. The Ospreys broke one school record and posted the top finishes by NCAA Division III competitors in five events.

Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) broke the school record and finished second out of 21 runners in the 500m (1:17.99). Kass knocked nearly three seconds off the previous mark of 1:20.09 by Cierra Granger in 2017 and placed second behind only an NCAA Division I competitor from NJIT.

Eva Morrison (Northfield/Mainland) was the runner-up and top Division III finisher in the pole vault (3.25m). Morrison was edged out of the win on a tiebreaker because she had just one more missed vault than the winner from Division II Sonoma State.

Elaina Styer (Estell Manor/Ocean City) finished third out of 25 behind a pair of athletes from Sonoma State in the high jump (1.65m). Styer was nipped for second place on a tiebreaker. Styer also placed 18th out of 44 in the 60m hurdles (9.45 seconds).

Freshman
Sydney Ricks (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) tied for fifth in the pole vault while fellow rookie
Marlie DiPalma (Hackettstown/Pope John XXIII) was eighth out of 36 in the long jump (5.12m).
Isabella Freda (Verona/Verona) placed eighth out of 34 in the weight throw (14.34m) and
Amanda McNally (Tabernacle/Seneca) was 14th out of 30 in the 1000m (3:05.75).

Stockton will head to upstate New York to compete in the Nazareth University Challenge Cup on January 25.
