Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (8-6, 1-2 NJAC) swept Rutgers-Newark (7-8, 1-2 NJAC) 3-0 for its first conference victory of the season. Senior
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) reached 1,000 kills for her career, becoming the 15th Osprey in program history to achieve that milestone.
Louer entered the match with 984 kills and finished with 16 kills after hitting 1,000 late in the third set with her final kill of the night.
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) totaled nine kills plus match highs of 11 digs and nine aces. Palmer's nine aces tied the second highest total in Stockton history.
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) contributed eight kills for the Ospreys.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 21 assists and
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added 12 assists.
Stockton dominated the first set 25-9 behind four kills by Louer and three from Wilson. The second set was considerably closer, with 10 ties before the Ospreys prevailed 25-21 led Louer with six kills and Palmer with five.
Stockton regained form and controlled the third set 25-13 to clinch the victory. Louer led the way with six kills, reaching 1,000 on the Ospreys' 18th point of the final stanza.
Jaedyn Simba-Malasarte and Mia Espinoza paced Rutgers-Newark with six kills apiece. Setter Angelyse Orellana dealt 17 assists for the Scarlet Raiders.
Stockton's next match will be at Kean University on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m.
