Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (6-6) took on the University of Lynchburg (7-2)today, with the Ospreys wearing their pink jerseys in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Lynchburg, which is ranked No. 20 in the nation by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, downed Stockton 5-2.
The Ospreys started the first five minutes of the game strong, with a impressive defensive performance, and a shot by
Brooke Ruiz (Voorhees/Eastern Regional).
Lynchburg got a goal by, Fenna de Biemam, assisted by Khahyis Mzizi, but was quickly met by a Stockton goal by
Olivia Catalano (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson).
Nearly to the end of the second period, Ruiz hit the back of the net, giving the Ospreys a 2-1 lead at half.
Lynchburg answered back in the third quarter, tying the game with a goal by Saar Prins, and then quickly met by another just 1 minute 24 seconds later by Callie Short, assisted by Anna Dorrestijn.
Stockton was able to get four shots off during the fourth quarter, but the late push fell short as Dorrestijn put another away for Lynchburg, and Prins later finished it off grabbing her second of the game for the Hornets.

Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) played an excellent game in goal with nine saves against an aggressive offense. Senior back
EB Rafferty (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) contributed her first career defensive save.
Stockton will attempt to bounce back this Wednesday at Rowan University for their first NJAC game of the season.
