Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (6-7, 0-1 NJAC) nearly pulled off an upset at 16th-ranked Rowan University (9-3), however two goals in the last two minutes foiled the Ospreys in a 5-4 setback. The game was Stockton's second straight against a ranked opponent, and its first conference game.
Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) scored two goals while
Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional) contributed a goal and two assists for the Ospreys.
Bailey's first goal, which was assisted by Thompson, came with 56 seconds left in the first half and tied the game 1-1. Bailey scored again with an assist by Thompson 4:18 into the third quarter to give Stockton a short-lived 2-1 edge. Rowan knotted the game 2-2 just 2:13 later.
Thompson put the Ospreys on top 3-2 with an assist by
Brooke Ruiz (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) but the Profs answered again, and the game went to the fourth quarter with the teams tied 3-3.
Makayla Alessi (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) gave Stockton the lead for the third time by scoring an unassisted goal with 5:46 remaining. The Ospreys were two minutes away from victory when Sophia Weisler tied the game for the third time with 1:58 on the clock.
Fifty-six seconds later, Rowan's Mia Foti potted the deciding goal with 1:02 to play as the Profs denied Stockton's upset bid, 4-3.

Stockton's next game will be at home against Montclair State on Saturday at noon.
