Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (20-8) finished the regular season with a 3-0 setback to NYU (17-10) at The Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys fell 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 to the Violets.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) topped Stockton with 11 kills followed by
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) with seven kills.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 13 assists and served five aces.
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) handed out 13 assists.
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) recorded a match-high 15 digs and added two aces.
In the first set, four kills by Louer and two aces by Mendick highlighted a 9-1 run that gave the Ospreys a 16-10 lead. NYU responded by scoring 15 of the next 18 points to overtake Stockton 25-19.
After falling behind 17-4 in the second stanza, the Ospreys fought back within 20-13 before falling 25-16. Louer spiked five kills and Murray totaled eight digs and two aces in a close third set that was tied 11 times before Stockton fell 25-23.
Chloe Lemons paced a balanced NYU offense with nine kills followed by Coco Barton with eight. Ava Launsbach dealt 23 assists and Kaitlyn Sato scooped 11 digs for the Violets.
Stockton is the No. 3 seed for the NJAC Tournament and will host No. 6 seed Ramapo in a first-round match on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
