Galloway, N.J. - Stockton University (15-5, 10-3 NJAC) secured a hard-fought 82-74 victory over Rutgers-Newark (5-15, 1-12 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon, with a strong second-half performance to pull away.

EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) got the Ospreys started with a three-pointer, the first of many for Stockton in a game where they shot efficiently from the three-point range (15-35; 42.9%).

The contest remained tight throughout the first half, with Stockton holding a 36-33 lead at the break. Both teams saw strong performances from their top scorers, as Rutgers-Newark's Levi Holton and Stockton's
Logan Mckee (Glen Mills, Pa./Phelps School) each tallied 11 points in the opening half.

After a closely contested first half, Stockton broke the game open early in the second, going on a dominant 14-0 run in the first five minutes and extending their lead to a game-high 17 points. The Ospreys maintained control to seal the 82-74 victory.

Stockton had two players pass the 20-point mark, with freshman Mckee setting a new career high in both points and rebounds, finishing with 22 points and 10 boards.
Christian Armstrong-Thomas also had a strong day, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds while adding four steals.

Matthews-Spratley, now just seven points away from reaching 1,000 for his career, poured in a team-high 27 markers.

Holton paced Rutgers-Newark with a game-high 32 points followed by Travis Miles with 19 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
