Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (11-13, 7-10 NJAC) combined a fourth quarter surge with some stifling defense, and held on to defeat Ramapo College (3-21, 2-15 NJAC) 52-49 on Saturday afternoon.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) led the Ospreys, posting her fifth double-double of the season with game-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The Roadrunners started strong, forging a 10-5 lead after one period before Stockton got untracked. After Ramapo scored to make it 12-5 to start the second stanza, the Ospreys ran off nine of the next 12 points to close to 15-14. Four different Ospreys scored with Speer leading the way with three points in the spurt.

Stockton took their first lead of the contest on two foul shots by
Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) to give the visitors a 17-15 lead at the 4:01 mark. Ramapo regained the lead, outscoring Stockton 11-8 the rest of the way to take a 26-23 lead at the break.

Speer and
Evangelina Kim (Egg Harbor Twp./Atlantic Christian) topped the Ospreys with six points each in the first 20 minutes of play.

The teams battled evenly in the third quarter with Ramapo able to hold on to the three-point lead at 40-37. Speer and
Lauren Winant (Middletown/Middletown South) kept Stockton close scoring seven and four points respectively, in the period.

The squads traded baskets in the final period until Stockton took the lead for good on a Winant basket for a 46-44 lead with 3:28 remaining in regulation. The Osprey defense held the Roadrunners scoreless for 5:05 during the quarter, winning the frame 15-9, holding the home team to just 2-13 (15.4%) shooting in the final quarter, and held for the 52-49 victory.

Kim added nine points, with Winant chipping in with eight points and six rebounds. Robinson dished three assists for a season-high, tying
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) who also grabbed seven boards.
BrookeLyn Graham scored seven points and pilfered a career-high three steals.
Ramapo was led by Lauren Flatt with 17 points, followed by Jocelyn Huancaya with 13 markers. Alison Ahern topped the Roadrunners with eight rebounds.Â

Stockton will finish the regular season slate with a home game against Rowan University on Wednesday night in Galloway. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
