Four Ospreys Earn NJAC Weekly Honors

Galloway, N.J. – Four Stockton University student-athletes were chosen for NJAC weekly honors in their respective sports for the week of February 10-16. Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) and Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) were named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week and NJAC Field Athlete of the Week respectively for women's indoor track & field.
 
Logan Mckee (Glen Mills, Pa./Phelps School) was named NJAC Rookie of the Week in men's basketball and Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) earned the Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) Defensive Player of the Week award for the first time in his career.
 
Kass and Petrolia received their awards for the second time this week while Mckee earned his second nod in three weeks and extended the Ospreys' NJAC Rookie of the Week streak to five straight weeks joining Jahmir Payoute (Irvington/Snyder) who has won it three times.
 
Blum posted superb numbers with a 5.93 goals against average, 19 saves an outstanding .633 save percentage as Stockton Men's Lacrosse opened the season with a pair of wins. The sophomore made eight saves in the season opener against Southern Virginia and then followed with 11 stops against Misericordia. Blum also added six ground balls and one caused turnover last week.
 
Kass ran a time of 2:13.09 in the 800 meters for Stockton Women's Track & Field and finished third out of 67 runners at the Widener Indoor Classic behind two Division I runners from Lehigh. Kass moved into the top spot in the NJAC and Metro Region with her time, which is the best in the conference by over four seconds.
 
Petrolia placed seventh out of 25 entrants in the triple jump at the Widener Indoor Classic with a distance of 11.26 meters that is the best triple jump in the NJAC this season by a foot. The junior also competed for Stockton Women's Track & Field in the long jump, finishing 20th out of 33 competitors with a leap of 5.01 meters.
 
Mckee averaged 14.5 points per game and led Stockton Men's Basketball with 6.0 rebounds per game in the two games last week. The freshman tied his career high with 22 points against Ramapo, shooting 6-12 (50%) from behind the arc in the contest. Mckee also dished five assists last week (2.5 apg), ranking third on the team.
 
Stockton Men's Basketball (17-7, 12-5 NJAC) will finish the regular season slate with a home game against Rowan University tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Stockton Men's Lacrosse will travel to DeSales University for a noon game on Saturday. Stockton Track & Field will compete in the two-day NJAC Championships at the University of Pennsylvania on February 22-23.
