2/3/2025 3:14:00 PM

Galloway, N.J. - The Stockton University men's and women's cross country teams and a total of six runners qualified for academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024 season.

A squad must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher to qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. The Stockton women's squad, coached by Claire Incantalupo, amassed an outstanding 3.66 GPA to finish in the top half of 235 NCAA Division III teams who qualified and the men's team, coached by Jayson Resch, recorded a 3.39 GPA. The Osprey women's team was the highest NJAC team on the list.

Stockton women's runners Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne), Rachel Hayes (Marlboro/St. John Vianney) and Amanda McNally (Tabernacle/Seneca) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete accolades. Kass and Hayes earned the distinction for the third time, while McNally collected her second nod.

The Osprey men were Erik Ackerman (Long Valley/West Morris Central), Josh Corsentino (Brick/Brick Memorial) and Dan Squicciarini (Flemington/Hunterdon Central). Ackerman earned his second academic honor, with Corsentino and Squicciarini garnering USTFCCCA academic status for the first time.

In order to qualify individually, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average above 3.30 and a finish in the top 25 percent at the NCAA regional meet.

Kass, an Education major, qualified for NJAC Second Team and USTFCCCA All-Region honors by finishing 11th at the NJAC Championships and 22nd at the NCAA Regionals respectively. The junior is now a three-time All-Region and three-time NJAC All-Conference runner (2024 Second Team, 2022-23 First Team).

McNally, a Physical Therapy major and transfer from Rowan University, also earned NJAC Second Team and USTFCCCA All-Region accolades. The fifth-year runner ran her second fastest time of the year and third best in 21 career 6K races, 23:29.2, for 30th place at the NCAA Regionals following 13th place at the NJAC Championships.

Hayes, a Chemistry major, earned her second career NJAC Second team nod, finishing 12th out of 111 runners at the NJAC Championships with a time of 23:31.0. The junior went on to finish 36th at the NCAA Regionals, narrowly missing a second straight All-Region award by just one second.

Ackerman, an Accounting major, qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second straight year, joining Randy Wetzel (2002, 2000) and Abad Akhtar (2009-10) as Stockton's only two-time NCAA qualifiers in men's cross country. He claimed All-Region and All-Conference recognition for the third straight year.

Ackerman finished 10th out of 186 runners at regionals with a time of 25:07.1 that was his second fastest in 19 career eight-kilometer races. He earned an NJAC First Team accolade with a runner-up finish at the NJAC Championships.

Corsentino, a Visual Arts major, scored at six of Stockton's seven meets and was the second finisher for the Ospreys behind Ackerman three times as well as the third Osprey across the finish line twice. The sophomore was a key newcomer this season after transferring from Ocean County College.

Squicciarini, whose major is Business Analytics, came on strong as the season progressed and was Stockton's second finisher at the NJAC Championships and third finisher at the NCAA Regionals. He placed sixth at the Penn State Abington Invitational and ran a 17-second personal best at the NCAA Regionals.
