Stockton Rows in Knecht Cup

Pennsauken, N.J. – Four Stockton University crews rowed in the Knecht Cup at Cooper River Park over the weekend. The Ospreys had two entries in the Division III varsity eight plus one boat apiece in the Division III varsity four and frosh/novice four.
 
The varsity eight consisted of Breanna Blisard (Galloway/Cedar Creek), Maggie Dunn (Haddonfield/Haddon Twp.), Ashley Timm (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT), Olivia Wagner (Lafayette/High Point), Grace Caldwell (Boise, Idaho/Mountain View), Lexi Kripetz (Clinton/Voorhees), Sydney Rowand (Barrington/Haddon Hts.), Megan Baldwin (Brigantine/Holy Spirit) and coxswain Leilani Moreno (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT).
 
The V8 finished third in heat on Saturday with a time of 8:08.99 that trailed St. Mary's and Catholic. Stockton then placed second behind Catholic with a time of 7:40.02 in the petite final on Sunday.
 
Natalie Warrick (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), Lex Zang (San Carlos, Calif./Carlmont), Reese Weirick (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), Reilly Deschenes (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.), Giavonna Terruso-Emmons (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek), Kimberly Canelas (Galloway/ACIT), Keira Kenney (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and Bryanna Ortiz (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) plus coxswain Thalia Gonzalez (Moorestown/Moorestown) were the second varsity eight crew for Stockton.
 
Competing in the same heat as the V8 on Saturday, the 2V8 finished in 8:20.34 for fifth place. The Ospreys posted 8:07.97 for sixth place in the petite final on Sunday.
 
Timm, Kripetz, Rowand and Baldwin rowed in varsity four, with Moreno serving as coxswain. Stockton registered a time of 9:03.77 for a runner-up finish behind Washington College in Saturday's heat. The Ospreys placed fifth in the final on Sunday with a time of 9:01.95.
 
A quartet of freshmen in Dunn, Wagner, Caldwell and Sherwood made up the frosh/novice four with fellow rookie Gonzalez as the coxswain. The squad won their heat on Saturday by two seconds with a  time of 9:15.25. On Sunday, they placed fifth in the final at 8:42.94.
 
Stockton will have three weeks before competing in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships at Lake Mercer on May 4.
