Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (15-16, 4-8 NJAC) dropped the back half of the home-and-home series against Rutgers-Camden (22-11, 6-6 NJAC) 11-3 on Friday.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) and
Robbie Ford (Green Twp./Newton) led the Ospreys with two hits apiece.
Ford also drew two walks while Avagnano added one walk and one run scored.
Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert) ripped a triple and scored as well.
Stockton cut a 4-0 deficit in half on sacrifice flies by
Cooper Fiore (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Austin Beard (Toms River/TR South) in the top of the fourth, but the Scarlet Raptors answered with three runs in the bottom half for a 7-3 count.
Four more Rutgers-Camden runs in the seventh inning added to the margin. Nitti tripled and scored on a groundout by
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) in the top of the eighth for the final run of the 11-3 setback.
Stockton returns home to host New Jersey City University in a doubleheader tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
