Galloway, N.J. – Four Stockton University student-athletes were selected for NJAC weekly honors for the week of April 14-20.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) was chosen NJAC Pitcher of the Week in softball for the second time this season.
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) and
Michaela Pomatto (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) were selected NJAC Track Athlete of the Week and NJAC Field Athlete of the Week respectively for women's track & field.
Ahmad Fogg (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) was named NJAC Field Athlete of the Week for men's track & field.
Tramp had another tremendous week in the circle, winning twice in three outings including a one-hit shutout over Ramapo on Saturday in which she came within two outs of her first career no-hitter. Overall, Tramp tossed 20.0 innings with 21 strikeouts and just two walks. The senior held opponents to a .118 batting average, did not allow an earned run for a 0.00 ERA and threw two shutouts.
Kass took two seconds off her school mark in the 800m and moved into second on the NCAA Division III performance list with a time of 2:07.13 in the Paul Donohue Invitational at Widener University on Saturday. Kass finished third out of nine runners in the 800m elite race behind two Division I competitors from Penn.
Pomatto finished third out of 33 throwers in the discus with a distance of 41.89 meters at the Paul Donohue Invitational. Her toss was a season best and tops the NJAC by over six meters (20 feet) in addition to ranking second in the Metro Region. Pomatto's throw moved her into the top 50 nationally as well.
Fogg competed in three events at the Paul Donohue Invitational. The sophomore placed third out of 19 in the triple jump with a career-best 14.36 meters and finished fourth out of 52 in the long jump at 6.89 meters, moving him into second place among NJAC athletes in both disciplines. He also competed in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters that ranks sixth in the league.
Stockton Softball (21-13, 8-6 NJAC) will play a pair of conference doubleheaders this week, starting on Tuesday when the Ospreys host Kean University. The squad will finish the regular season with a twinbill at New Jersey City on Saturday.
Some Stockton Track & field team members will compete at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Thursday through Saturday, while the rest of the men's and women's teams will compete at the TCNJ Lions Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
