Madison, NJ – Stockton University (18-16) won their third straight game with a nail biting 11-10 victory over FDU-Florham (14-22) on Tuesday afternoon. Four Ospreys garnered two hits each led by
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) who extended his hitting streak to six straight games.

The game started explosively with Stockton scoring nine times in the first four innings, while the Devils plated four of their own during the span. The run was highlighted by Avagnano, who ripped his fifth home run of the year, and third in his last five games.

The home team scored three times in their half of the sixth to slice the margin to 9-7 in favor of the Ospreys. Stockton scored two unearned runs in the seventh to stretch the margin to 11-7, before the Devils rallied in their final at bat.

FDU-Florham tallied three markers in the bottom of the ninth, but could not push the tying run across, as the rally ended, and Stockton came away with the one run victory.

Along with Avagnano, who drove in four and scored three times,
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert),
Austin Beard (Toms River/Toms Ricer South) and
Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert), each had a pair of hits.

Joseph Loreti (Hamilton/Steinert), the first of six Ospreys hurlers in the game, earned his first career victory, pitching the first 1.2 innings with one strikeout.

For the Devils, John Rolli had three hits, with Zach Ganca driving in three runs and blasting a homer, along with Jack Giovenco scoring three runs.
Stockton will return to NJAC play when the Ospreys host Kean University on Thursday afternoon. The Cougars, who clinched the NJAC Regular season title, are ranked #6 by D3baseball.com/NCBWA. The game is scheduled for 3:30pm in Galloway.
