Eight Ospreys Obtain CSC Academic All-District Honors

Galloway, N.J. – Eight Stockton University student-athletes from three different teams received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in the at-large category, which includes sports such as lacrosse, field hockey, rowing and golf.
 
Lacrosse players Lilly Alessandro (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington), Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) and Emily Deworsop (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) comprised half of Stockton's CSC Academic All-District Women's At-Large selections.
 
Field hockey players Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape), EB Rafferty (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) and Miana Alessandroni (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) completed the group of six female Ospreys who earned CSC Academic All-District Women's At-Large accolades.
 
Lacrosse teammates Michael Hoey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco) and Hunter VanZant (Lincoln Park/Boonton) were Stockton's CSC Academic All-District Men's At-Large honorees.
 
Alessandro, Costello and Deworsop received CSC Academic All-District accolades for the second straight year. The criteria for eligibility were a minimum 3.50 grade point average, sophomore or higher standing and either participation in 90 percent or starting in 66 percent of a team's games.
 
Alessandro, a Health Science major, started all 17 games and finished second on the team in draw controls (54) plus tied for third in ground balls (37) on the way to an NJAC Second nod this spring. The senior also totaled 21 caused turnovers defensively as well as five goals and three assists at the offensive end.
 
Costello, a Health Science major, started all 17 games for Stockton and contributed on both sides of the ball in her senior season. The midfielder finished second on the squad in ground balls (42) and third in caused turnovers (24). Costello potted 30 goals and dished 14 assists for 44 points as she tallied career highs in five categories this spring.
 
Deworsop, a Health Science major, transitioned to a defensive role and started every game in her senior year. She chipped in with 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers while also adding two goals and one assist for three points.
 
Roura, a Social Work major, racked up an impressive list of honors made up of NJAC Goaltender of the Year, ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, NFHCA Region IV Second Team, NJAC First Team and All-ECAC Team for her play in goal during the fall. The junior finished second in the conference in saves (117) and save percentage (.770) as well as posting five shutouts.
 
Alessandroni, a Languages and Culture Studies major, and Rafferty, a Finance major, each played in all 19 games, with Alessandroni making 16 starts and Rafferty starting seven times and scoring once. Roura, Alessandroni and Rafferty all qualified for the NFHCA National Academic Squad. Roura and Rafferty also earned NFHCA Scholar of Distinction status.
 
Hoey, a Liberal Studies major, and VanZant, a Criminal Justice major, were contributors at midfield for Stockton this spring. Hoey played in all 19 games and scooped 27 ground balls augmented by five caused turnovers, one goal and three assists.
 
VanZant scored eight goals and dealt two assists for 10 points. The junior snagged 16 ground balls and produced two caused turnovers in 18 games played for the Ospreys.
