Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (0-1) kicked off the 2025 season with a 1-0 setback to 13th-ranked University of Scranton (1-0) in the first game of the Stockton Classic at G. Larry James Stadium. A goal by the Royals in the 65th minute proved to be the difference.

Makayla Jaffe (Middletown/Middletown South) and
Madison Bjorndahl (Pt. Pleasant/Pt. Pleasant Borough) each were credited with two shots in their first game at Stockton.
The Ospreys held a 3-2 edge in shots during the first half, including two quality chances.
Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) was denied by Scranton goalie Makenzie Van Arsdale from close range and
Erin Lally (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) hit the crossbar with a long free kick.
Scranton asserted itself in the second half and broke through when Jazzel Meikleham volleyed a shot home from the middle of the box with 25:04 remaining. Stockton was unable to generate offense down the stretch and fell 1-0.
Van Arsdale blanked the Ospreys with three saves in the match.
The Stockton Classic will continue tomorrow, with the Ospreys hosting King's College (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
