Collegeville, Pa. – Stockton University (3-3) evened its overall record with a quick 3-0 sweep of Ursinus (2-5). The Ospreys cruised through the first two sets 25-15, 25-20 and then closed the match with a tight 25-23 win in the third frame.
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) spiked a team-high 14 kills followed by
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) with 12 kills as the duo combined for 26 of Stockton's 36 kills. Louer added 10 digs for a double-double.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) also notched a double-double of 11 assists and 11 digs.
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) dealt a team-high 14 assists and
Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) contributed six kills.
Stockton used a 7-1 run to open up a 16-10 lead and take control of the first set. The Ospreys trailed 17-16 in the second stanza before closing with a 9-3 outburst.
The third set featured several momentum swings. Stockton built a 13-7 lead but later trailed 20-18 and 23-21. The Ospreys then reeled off four straight points, led by two kills from Louer, to clinch the victory 25-23.
Stockton will play next at Eastern University on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
