Grantham, Pa. – Stockton University (2-3) dropped a pair of hard-fought matches on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys fell to Misericordia (5-1) 3-2 and then to host Messiah (4-3) 3-1.
The set scores in first match were 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-8 in favor of the Cougars.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led Stockton with 15 kills followed by
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) with 14 kills.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) handed out a season-high 25 assists and
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tied her season best with 17 assists. Freshman
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) established a career high with 24 digs.
Stockton got off to a strong start against Messiah, winning the first set 25-15, however the Ospreys ran out of steam and were edged 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 in the next three frames. Palmer recorded a double-double with a match-high 15 kills plus 10 assists as well as eight digs.
Mendick also notched a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs. Murray against paced the back row, scooping 17 digs and adding six assists.
Lauren Sommer (York, Pa./Central York) contributed 10 digs and a match-high four aces.
Stockton will be on the road again on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. match at Ursinus College.
