Mahwah, N.J. – Stockton University (9-7, 6-3 NJAC) broke out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and went wire-to-wire for a 62-43 victory over Ramapo (6-10, 1-8 NJAC). The Ospreys shot a scorching 5-7 (71.4%) from three-point range and scored 21 points in the opening period.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) went 3-4 from beyond the arc and tied for game-high honors with 13 points to lead a balanced Stockton offense.
Madisyn McNair (Hackensack/Hackensack) sank four three-pointers for 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Bre Evans (Neptune/Neptune) also netted 12 points followed by
Zemirah Enalls (Barnegat/Barnegat) with 11 points and a team-high seven caroms. The Ospreys tied their season high with nine three-pointers and scored 20 points off 20 Ramapo turnovers.
Stockton jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first 8:17 and led 21-10 after one quarter behind six points apiece by Fathi, McNair and Enalls. Ramapo made a late surge in the second stanza, but the Ospreys still led 28-22 at halftime.
Stockton's advantage reached 16 at 45-29 on a three-pointer by Fathi with 1:13 left in the third quarter. The margin shrunk to eight with 6:35 remaining in the game, but the Ospreys closed with a 14-3 run to seal the 62-43 triumph.
Sienna Fedoruk (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) scored five of her eight points during the spurt.
Emma Cartwright paced Ramapo with 13 points while Lauren Flatt finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Stockton will begin the second half of the conference schedule by hosting Kean University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
