Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-6-5, 1-2-1 NJAC) took an early lead but could not hold off Montclair State University (11-2-1, 3-0-1 NJAC) by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph A. Carbone (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) scored the lone marker for Stockton.
Carbone scored his second tally of the season at 9:53 when freshman
Cooper Adinolfi (Medford/Shawnee) fired a cross through the box. The pass found Carbone on the left side and his one-timer to the lower left corner made it 1-0 in favor of the Ospreys.
The Red Hawks evened the score in the 31st minute when Josh Virgil hit the lower right corner after a pass from Tomas Monteiro to knot the score at 1-1.
The match would stay tied until the 65th minute when Stockton failed a clear and Sabastien Lapczynski volleyed a shot into the net from just outside the box for the eventual game winning goal.
The visitors kept up the pressure over the final 35 minutes but were turned away by goalkeeper
Dan Raivitch (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) each time and the game ended in the one goal loss for Stockton.
Raivitch made five stops in the contest, while his counterpart Pierre Soumeillant kicked out a pair of Osprey attempts.
Stockton will travel to Union, NJ for their next match against Kean University on Wednesday evening. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
