Montclair, N.J. – Stockton University (7-3, 1-0 NJAC) topped Montclair State (3-6, 0-1 NJAC) 4-1 in the first conference game of the season. The Ospreys dominated statistically with advantages of 35-2 in shots and 23-3 in penalty corners.
Stella Devlin (Millville/St. Joseph Academy) tallied one goal and one assist.
Leah Bruchansky (Medford/Shawnee) sealed the win with two goals in the last three minutes.
Devlin gave Stockton a short-lived 1-0 lead with an assist by
Maura Somers (Berlin/Eastern Regional) in the second quarter. Montclair's Natalie Surma tied the game just 38 seconds later.
Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) broke the deadlock with an assist by Devlin 2:13 into the third quarter to put the Ospreys ahead for good. Bruchansky later broke the game open by scoring with 2:31 remaining in the game and then again with five seconds left in the 4-1 triumph.
Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) assisted on the first goal by Bruchansky.
Delfina Vanelli (Galloway/Cedar Creek) collected the goaltending win for the Ospreys. Sydney White made 21 saves for the Red Hawks.
Stockton returns home to host #23 Rowan University on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
