Stockton Downed by Rutgers-Camden 74-68

Camden, N.J. - Stockton University (13-10, 10-6 NJAC) was downed 74-68 by Rutgers-Camden (11-11, 6-10 NJAC). The Ospreys rallied from an 11-point deficit to lead for a nine-minute stretch of the second half, but they were overtaken in last five minutes.
 
Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) led Stockton with 16 points followed by Justin Harper (Bridgeton/Wildwood Catholic) with 14 points and Devon Johnson (Pine Hill/Overbrook) with 11 points.
 
Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) contributed 10 points and five rebounds. Rutgers-Camden shot a scorching 56.8% (25-44) from the field plus 75% (15-20) at the line while the Ospreys went just 4-25 (16%) from three-point range.
 
Stockton's largest lead of the game came at 16-10 after a layup by Harper just over nine minutes after the opening tip. The Ospreys then were outscored 25-15 the rest of the half and trailed 35-31 at the break. Johnson scored 11 first-half points for Stockton.
 
In the second half, Stockton erased a 46-35 deficit with a 19-4 outburst that vaulted them in front 54-50 with 12:02 remaining. Campbell led the rally with seven points. The Ospreys maintained a slim lead until the Scarlet Raptors tied the game 60-60 with 4:43 left.
 
A 14-3 run by the home team in the closing minutes decided the outcome as Stockton fell 74-68. Cameron Downs paced Rutgers-Camden with 27 points followed by Eric Benjamin and Isaiah Waters with 17 and 13 points respectively.
 
Stockton will play its last home game of the regular season on Saturday when the Ospreys host Ramapo at 3:00 p.m.
