Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (12-9, 9-5 NJAC) hosted New Jersey City (8-10, 6-8 NJAC) on National Girls & Women in Sports Day, earning a 72-55 victory.
The first quarter was a neck-and-neck competition. Five different Ospreys put points on the board, led by
Madisyn McNair (Hackensack/Hackensack) who scored eight points in the first.
The Ospreys went into the second quarter with a 17-14 score after a buzzer-beater by
Zemirah Enalls (Barnegat/Barnegat) ended the first quarter. Stockton kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter and continued the momentum.
The Ospreys defense held NJCU to 13 points while putting up 25 markers in the second quarter. Stockton forced ten turnovers, McNair playing a strong role in it with two steals, leading to ten points from turnovers in the quarter. Stockton led 42-27 at halftime.
The pressure continued in the third quarter with Ospreys holding NJCU to ten points while scoring 21. Enalls put up eight points, going 4-4 from the field.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) picked up two her game total of five assists, putting her at a total of 298 in her career.
Although NJCU outscored Stockton 18-9 in the fourth quarter, the Ospreys put the game away, winning 72-55.
Stockton finished the game with three different players getting 15 points or more, Enalls, who posted her seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 18 rebounds McNair with 16 points and
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) with 15.
NJCU's Bailey Cassell had a strong showing, totaling 22 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
The Ospreys look to continue this impressive showing at home Saturday versus Montclair State at 3:00 p.m.
