Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) played its 2025-26 season opener and first match under new head coach
Shane Monroe, who is just the third head coach in the program's 25-year history.
The Ospreys won four of the six matches that were played but forfeited three matches and fell 4-3 to William Paterson (3-5, 1-0 NJAC). Stockton took three out of four in singles and split the two doubles contests.
Rocio Lucero (West New York/Memorial) and
Alexa Arias (Vineland/Vineland) won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Arias collected her first career doubles victory.
Singles winners for the Ospreys were Lucero by a 7-6, 6-4 count at No. 1 singles,
Arielis Martinez (Millville/Cumberland Co. Tech) with 6-1, 6-3 scores at No. 2 singles and freshman
Trista Sparks (Ocean View/Ocean City) with her first career win in her college debut, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Stockton's next match will be on Tuesday at FDU-Florham for a 3:30 p.m. start.
