Bethlehem, Pa. – Stockton University (3-2) fell 20-9 to undefeated Muhlenberg College (4-0) on Wednesday in the first of two straight road games for the Ospreys this week.
Early in the first quarter, Muhlenberg opened the scoring which was quickly answered back by
Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell), assisted by
Julia Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May), who picked up the 100th point of her career.
After another goal from Muhlenberg, Stockton's
Madison MacGillivray (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) responded for the Ospreys before the Mules took control of the period with eight unanswered goals.
In the second quarter, Stockton contributed two more goals, with
Maisy Mosier (Berlin/Eastern Regional) and Marinello scoring one apiece. Stockton was able to keep Muhlenberg to only two goals with goalie
Jordan Czaczkowski's (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) two saves.
Stockton outscored Muhlenberg 4-3 in the third period. MacGillivray and Marinello each completed their hat tricks during the period. The Ospreys got within 12-8 before Muhlenberg tallied the last three goals of the quarter.
Mosier later netted her third goal of the game, scoring the Ospreys' only goal in the fourth quarter.
Brielle Soltys (Absecon/Holy Spirit) recorded two assists for Stockton and led the Ospreys in ground balls with five. Czaczkowski tallied eight saves while going against Muhlenberg's high-powered offense. Mosier topped Stockton with seven draw controls.
The Mules' impressive offense was led by Emma Youngling (5 G, 2 A) and Jane Sorger (4 G, 5 A) who combined for nine goals and 16 points.
Stockton will look to bounce back on Saturday away versus Haverford College at 11:30 a.m. The Fords are ranked 20th in the IWLCA Division III national poll.
