Salisbury, Md. – Stockton University (8-4, 0-2 CLC) played its second straight game and third of the season against a ranked opponent, but the Ospreys were downed by seventh-ranked Salisbury (10-2, 1-0 CLC) 18-11. Stockton was tied with the Sea Gulls at halftime.
Alex DeLierre (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) scored a team-high four goals and reached the 100-point mark for his career.
Calen Reid (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) tallied two goals and two assists followed by
Brody Nussman (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) with a goal and two assists.
Stockton led 1-0 on an early goal by Reid and 2-1 after
Liam Humphrey (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) scored, but Salisbury used a 6-2 run to pull ahead 7-4. The Ospreys responded with three goals in 2:03 to tie the game 7-7.
Nate Sears (Medford/Shawnee) started the three-goal run, followed by DeLierre and Reid, and Stockton went to halftime tied with #7-ranked team in the nation.
The game turned in the third quarter as the Ospreys were outscored 6-1, with
Colin Wagner (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) netting the lone Stockton marker. Two straight goals by the home team early in the fourth quarter made it 15-8, and the Ospreys fell 18-11.
Stockton goalkeeper
Ben Blum (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) tied his season high with 14 saves. Wagner led the team with five ground balls to go with a goal and an assist.
Bret Bergey paced Salisbury with a game-high five goals plus one assist. Connor Herraiz finished with three goals and four assists for a game-high seven points.
After three straight road games, Stockton returns home to host Montclair State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
