Galloway, N.J. – A pair of Stockon University student-athletes earned NJAC weekly awards in their respective sports for the week of April 6-12. Junior
Elaina Styer (Estell Manor/Ocean City) was named NJAC Field Athlete of the Week for women's track & field and freshman
Nick Kowalewski (Pt. Pleasant/Pt. Pleasant Boro) was named NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week for baseball.
Styer received her award for the second straight week while Kowalewski became the first Stockton baseball player to collect an NJAC weekly award this season.
Styer had a fantastic showing at the TCNJ Invitational & Multi last week. She set two school records, starting with 5,050 points in the heptathlon that ranks second in NCAA Division III and broke the Stockton mark of 4,418 points that stood for 20 years.
Styer ran a time of 14.23 seconds in the 100m hurdles that also set a new Stockton record. Her time ranks eighth nationally in NCAA Division III. Styer won both events at the TCNJ meet.
Kowalewski was outstanding on the hill against TCNJ in a 14-0 shutout last week. The freshman lefty tossed a career-high eight shutout innings, striking out four batters and allowing just three hits for his first career win. In six appearances so far this year, Kowalewski has pitched a total of 23.1 innings, with one win and 16 strikeouts.
Stockton Baseball will have a busy week with five games on the slate, beginning with a non-conference road tilt at Gwynedd Mercy University tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. Stockton Track & Field will compete at the Widener Invitational this weekend.
