Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (26-6, 12-2 NJAC) swept a key doubleheader against Ramapo College (25-10, 9-5 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys won by the score of 5-4 in eight innings, before winning 12-2 on the run rule in five innings in the second game.
For Stockton
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) led the way with five hits, including three doubles, and five RBI on the day.
Emma Coldsnow (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) and freshman
Emily Clauss (Delanco/BCIT) had four hits each, with Coldsnow driving in a pair of runs and Clauss mashing her second homer of the year to go with three runs and three RBI.
Fellow frosh
Camryn Harry (Swedesboro/Paul VI) added a home run among her three hits with three runs and three RBI.
Elizabeth Martin (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) came on in relief in the first game, tossing 7.0 innings with three strikeouts for her ninth win of the year.
Casey Sokol (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) pitched a three-hit complete game in the nightcap for her ninth win as well.
How it Happened
Game One:
The game was knotted at 3-3, forcing an extra inning. In the eighth inning, Rampo scored to make it 4-3 before Stockton won in thrilling fashion.
McKenna George (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) scored pinch runner (
Cassie Stallwood (Flemington/Hunterdon Central)with a single to knot the game. With the bases loaded and two out, Clauss singled to drive in the winner in the 5-4 victory.
Game Two:
It was all Ospreys as they scored five runs in the first, two more in the second, then another five-spot in the third frame for a commanding 12-0 lead. Clauss and Harry blasted back-to-back round trippers in the third inning.
The Roadrunners plated a pair of runs in the fourth inning but that was as close as they would come in the 12-2 loss.
For Ramapo
Alex Hastings led the way with three hits in the two games.
Next Game
Stockton will have another tough matchup on Tuesday, when the Ospreys travel to Union, NJ to face Kean University in a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 3pm and 5pm.
