Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-23, 5-9 NJAC) rallied from a four-run deficit and captured a thrilling 7-6 win in 13 innings over FDU-Florham (15-19) in the final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday afternoon. It was the third win in the last four games for the Ospreys.
 
For Stockton
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) led the offense with three hits and two RBI.
 
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) had two hits with Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) also knocking in a pair of runs.
 
Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Notre Dame) scored three runs including the game winning tally.
 
Dominic Mallamaci (Manalapan/Red Bank Catholic) tossed a career-high five scoreless innings in relief, allowing just three hits, to earn his first career win.
 
How it Happened
The Devils scored twice in the first inning, before Stockton knotted the game in the third frame. The Ospreys loaded the bases for Casey who singled for two RBI and a 2-2 tie.
 
The visitors scored two markers each in the fourth and sixth innings to forge a 6-2 lead, while holding Stockton scoreless until the ninth inning.
 
In the ninth inning, Gmitter doubled and scored on a Vizzoni single. Liam Schwinn (West Chester, PA/Henderson) reached on an error, then Matthew McCloskey (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) walked to load the bases.
 
A wild pitch scored the Ospreys' fourth run. Casey walked to re-load the bases for Avagnano, who singled driving in a pair and tying the contest 6-6, sending the game to extra frames.
 
Neither team could score until the 13th inning when Stockton grabbed the victory. Vizzoni walked and stole second. Schwinn bunted for a hit and the ensuing errant throw allowed Vizzoni to score the winning run.

For FDU-Florham
Xavier Diaz and Parker Muratore had three hits each, with Diaz picking up three RBI.
 
John Rolli scored three runs in the game.
 
Next Game
Stockton will return to NJAC play for the final week of the regular season, when the Ospreys will host Rutgers-Newark on Thursday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
