Newark, NJ – Stockton University (11-24, 6-10 NJAC) gained a measure of revenge by downing Rutgers-Newark 13-3 (13-21, 5-11 NJAC) on Friday afternoon. Stockton split the series with the Scarlet Raiders after losing yesterday to their NJAC foes.
For Stockton:
Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Notre Dame),
Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert), and
Max Kaplan (Wall/Wall) had three hits each in the 18-hit attack.
Matthew McCloskey (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) and Gmitter had three RBI. Vizzoni and
Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) knocked in two each.
Liam Schwinn (West Chester, PA/Henderson) scored three times and swiped four steals in the game. Vizzoni and McCloskey each scored two runs in the contest.
RJ Coleman (Iselin/John F. Kennedy) hurled a career-high seven innings, allowing just four hits and striking out three batters in earning his first career win on the hill.
Tim Welsh (Allentown/Allentown) pitched the final two innings without allowing a run.
How it Happened:
The teams traded runs tying the game at 1-1 through four innings. Stockton took the lead for good in the fifth frame on RBI by Gmitter and Casey for a 3-1 margin.
The Ospreys scored 10 more times from the sixth through ninth innings to offset a pair of markers by Rutgers-Newark to seal the victory

Jonathan Jerez had two of the five hits for the home team.
Next Game:
Stockton will finish the NJAC regular season on Monday with a doubleheader against Ramapo College. The games are re-scheduled due to weather and will be played in Mahwah, NJ. First pitch is at 11:30am with the second game to begin approximately at 2:30 pm.
