Stockton Rally Falls Short Against #9 Rowan

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-15, 0-4 NJAC) rallied late but came out on the short end of a 12-8 final against Rowan University (15-2, 4-0 NJAC) on Friday afternoon. Rowan is ranked #9 nationally by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
 
For Stockton
Jimmy Casey (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) had two hits, including his third home run of the year, drove in three and scored twice.

Yenuelle Rodriguez (Vineland/Vineland) had two RBI.

Dom Vizzoni (Trenton/Notre Dame) scored twice.

Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) reached base four times, including his 40th career double, tying him for first all-time at Stockton.

Matt Sabatella (Emerson/Emerson) pitched a career-high 4.2 innings, allowing just one hit, but was not involved in the decision.
 
How it Happened
Rowan scored seven times in the first four innings to offset a marker by Stockton, on an Evan Palmer (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) RBI.

The Ospreys crept to within 7-3 in the fifth frame on a two RBI hit by Rodriguez.

Stockton tacked on another run on Casey's home run in the seventh to make it 7-4.

Rowan plated five runs in the top of the ninth, before Stockton tried to rally.

Casey drove in a pair with a double.Joe Gmitter (Hamilton/Steinert) scored the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly, then the home team scored their fourth run on a balk, but that was where the rally ended in the 12-8 loss.
 
For Rowan
Brayden Davis, Jason Schooley and Joey Bogart had two hits each, with Davis and Damon Suriani driving in three runs apiece.

Kyle Lamanteer and Bogart scored four and three runs, respectively.

Colin Denton pitched 6.2 innings and earned his second win of the season.

Stockton travels to Union, NJ tomorrow for a doubleheader against #5 Kean University. First pitch is scheduled for 11:30 am
