Galloway, N.J. – 19th-ranked Stockton University (18-2) split a non-conference doubleheader with Salisbury University (13-9) on Friday afternoon. The Ospreys dropped the opener 5-0, ending their seven-game winning streak, but they rebounded to win the nightcap 7-3 in six innings (darkness).
McKenna George (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) went 2-4 for half of Stockton's four hits in game one.
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/Caldwell) and
Camryn Harry (Swedesboro/Paul VI) each rapped a double.
Salisbury scored twice each in the fourth and seventh innings around one run in the fifth frame for the 5-0 final.
Geroge and Cetrulo each went 2-4 with an RBI in game two. George scored twice while Cetrulo scored once.
Casey Sokol (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) chipped in with two hits and an RBI. Harry added one hit and three RBI.
Emma Coldsnow (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) launched her 12th career home run in the second inning to give Stockton a 1-0 edge. George scored on an RBI groundout by Harry in the third frame for a 2-0 lead.
The Ospreys broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. George earned an RBI with a bunt single and Cetrulo followed with a fielder's choice for an RBI. Harry came up next and stroked a two-run single. Sokol capped the big inning with an RBI single that made it 7-0.
Salisbury snapped the shutout with three runs in the top of the sixth, and the game was called after the bottom of the sixth due to darkness as Stockton earned the split with the 7-3 triumph.
Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) pitched five innings and improved her record to 6-0 with the win.
Elizabeth Martin (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) entered with none out in the sixth frame and retired three of the four batters that she faced to snuff Salisbury's attempt to rally.
For the Sea Gulls, Karlie Wolfe went 2-4 with a double and a run in the first game. Alayna Gigliotti and Lexie Delcollo each went 2-3 in the second game, with Gigliotti scoring once and Delcollo recording an RBI.
Stockton will host New Jersey City in an NJAC doubleheader tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
