Stockton Flies by Eagles 8-0

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-3) led wire-to-wire in a convincing 8-0 victory over Eastern University (7-2) on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Stella Devlin (Millville/St. Joseph's Academy) and Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) scored two goals each in the rout. Stockton has won four of their last five games by a total of 25-8.
 
The Ospreys got on the board early in the match when Devlin found the top right corner for her third goal of the season for the 1-0 lead after one frame.
 
Devlin potted her second of the game at 20:52 when she blasted a shot from the top of the circle to make it 2-0. Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) made it 3-0 after she took a return pass from DeMarco after a penalty corner for her fourth of the year and the rout was on.
 
DeMarco added her sixth of the season just before half when she scored off her own rebound for a four-goal margin at the break. DeMarco tallied her second of the match off a penalty corner assist by Bruther at 35:28, the two minutes later Freshman Kaedyn Lipowski (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored her first career marker from Meghan Phillips (Somers Point/Holy Spirit) to make it 6-0.
 
Jenna Gregula (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT, from Phillips at the end of the third frame, then Leah Bruchansky (Medford/Shawnee) in the final period closed out the 8-0 whitewash.
 
Delfina Vanelli (Galloway/Cedar Creek) did not have to make a save in posting her NJAC leading third shutout of the season. Stockton pressured the Eagles all afternoon, to the tune of 28-1 in shots and 15-0 on penalty corners.
 
Angelina Catania made 14 saves for Eastern in three periods, before giving way to Christian Unger who made two saves in 15 minutes of play.
 
The Ospreys will begin NJAC Play on Saturday when the Ospreys travel to Montclair, NJ to face Montclair State. Game time is set for 11 am.
