Haverford, Pa. – Stockton University (1-1) collected its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Lancaster Bible (0-1) at the Haverford Invitational. The Ospreys recorded a .281 hitting percentage and served 15 aces in the match.
Olivia Magro (Brigantine/ACIT) led Stockton with a match-high 12 kills followed by
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) with 10 kills and nine digs. Freshman
Jaclyn Niven (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) added eight kills and a team-high four blocks.
Setters
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and
Ariana Bongiovanni (Charlotte, N.C./Reddington) dealt 22 and 15 assists respectively.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) served a career-high six aces and
Helen Murray (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) led all players with 18 digs.
Stockton dominated the first set 25-10 behind five kills by Niven and four aces from Ritchie. The Ospreys trailed the second set 22-20 before closing with a 6-2 run that included three kills by Palmer for a 26-24 triumph.
The third set was close early but Stockton took control behind four kills by Magro and closed out the sweep 25-18.
Stockton will continue play at the Haverford Invitational tomorrow with matches against Haverford at 3:00 p.m. and Misericordia at 5:00 p.m.
