Stockton University Athletics

Kevin Chandler has been coaching at Stockton for 34 years, first as a volunteer then as an assistant coach. Chandler’s specialty is the weight events and he has played a large role in the success of the Osprey teams for over three decades. He is a hands-on coach and an enthusiast on throwing technique, drills, plyometrics, and strength and conditioning.
 
Chandler's throwers have won individual championships in the weight throw, shot put, hammer throw, discus and javelin. He has coached a total of 32 NJAC champions, most recently 2023 indoor and outdoor shot put and indoor weight throw champion Shahyan Abraham, who also was voted USTFCCCA Metro Region Field Athlete of the Year and NJAC Outstanding Field Athlete for the indoor season.
 
Chandler has coached 15 CTC champions and two ECAC champions as well as eight NCAA qualifiers highlighted by a trio of All-Americans in Audra Schappell (2006 discus), Edward Dennerlein (2020 shot put) and Darren Wan (2022 hammer throw).
 
Chandler’s throwers have received five NJAC Most Outstanding Athlete awards and nine NJAC Outstanding Field Athlete awards overall, as well as earning 10 USTFCCCA All-Region honors since those accolades began in 2016. His motto in the weight room and in the throwing area is "last set, best set, last throw, best throw!"
